Oldfield Park

Photo of the High Street in Oldfield Park

Oldfield is the main student area in Bath and has a wide range of housing, from terraced housing at the lower end of Oldfield Road through to semi-detached houses and private properties which figure prominently on the upper road. The range of student accommodation is diverse, including flats, houses and maisonettes.

There are a range of amenities on and around Moorland Road including pubs, cafes, a post office, banks, letting agents, charity shops, take-aways, supermarkets, butchers, fruit & vegetable shops, a GP surgery and a pharmacy. There is also a community centre and a few churches in the area as well as a number of green open spaces for those hot lazy summer days!

Be careful about renting near the train line - it can be very noisy! In addition to the student population there are many families and elderly residents living in the area too.

 Getting around

Services 418/18 run between Bath Spa University and the University of Bath via Lower Oldfield Park and the city centre. Some journeys on service 418 run via Lower Bristol Road, these will be numbered 419.

The area is also serviced by the U18, U10 and 20A service which goes to and from the University of Bath. There is also the Spa Link service (term-time only) which leaves from Lower Bristol Road and links the Bath Spa University campuses Newton Park and Sion Hill. For more information about bus services or to see timetables see the links to First Bus and Uni Connect websites on the right hand side of the ‘Living in Bath’ Page.

It is just a short 10/15 minute to the city centre and a 10/15 minute walk to train station and bus station where you can get regular services to Bristol, London and other surrounding areas.

There is also train station in Oldfield Park so you don't have to go into Bath centre, but not all trains stop there.
