Widcombe is a thriving community with excellent facilities and services on the southeastern fringes of Bath city centre. It boasts excellent eating and shopping, beautiful walks and spectacular scenery and is therefore very popular to live especially for couples, students and families. It sits on the Kennet and Avon canal and offers a community feel whilst not being to far from the city centre.
The area is reasonably priced, and contains mainly terraced and semi-detached properties for multiple occupancy.
It has all the amenities to meet your needs such as a GP surgery, dentist and a launderette as well as a niche shopping experience and lovely places to eat and drink. There are plenty of green spaces and an art gallery and a café.
The U10 service runs (term time only) through Widcombe, and up to the University of Bath, every half an hour. The service does not run in the evenings.
The 20 A/C bus runs an hourly service to and from the University of Bath.
The area is a 5-10 minute walk from Bath Spa train station and the city centre where the 418/18 runs to the University of Bath and Bath Spa University. The U18 bus service to the University of Bath can also be picked up from the city centre.
For more information about bus services or to see timetables see the links to First Bus and Uni Connect websites on the right hand side of the ‘Living in Bath’ Page.
It is possible to walk or cycle to the University campus from Widcombe, and many do, though it is up a steep hill!
