Living in Bath

Bath is one of England's most beautiful places to live.  It is unique, with its hot springs, the Roman Baths, a splendid Abbey and Georgian architecture.

The city has a variety of theatres, museums, and other cultural and sporting venues.  It is a major tourism centre and attracts over 1 million staying visitors and 3.8 million day visitors to the city each year.  There are two universities and several schools and colleges. There is a large service sector, a growing information and communication technologies and creative industries, providing employment for the population of Bath and the surrounding area.

Bath is a relatively small city, so if you choose to live outside of the City centre, you can still enjoy the benefits of easy access into the centre and well served surround suburbs.  This website offers information about the student areas in Bath.  To find out more click on the area profiles listed.

Travelling around the city and between the universities is relatively easy using either First or Uni Connect.

 Being a Good Neighbour

The partnership aims to help create neighbourhoods where people choose to live. It's message to all residents is enjoy your home but don't prevent others from enjoying theirs.

Once you have moved in to your new home - don’t be shy - introduce yourself to your neighbours. This will help establish and build a positive relationship.  Your neighbours are a source of useful information about your local area, including important information such as when the rubbish is collected, etc. They may also be able to help to keep an eye on your house during weekends and holidays.

Ensure you respect others living around you. Inconsiderate noise levels often lead to complaints.Your actions could bring your institution into disrepute and may affect your chances of graduating.

Some pointers to remember:

  • Making the right impression - it is important to establish a good relationship with your neighbours
  • Respect your neighbours by keeping the noise levels to an acceptable level and let them know if you plan to have a party
  • Be particularly sensitive if you live alongside young children and elderly people
  • Be responsible for ensuring you keep your home and garden free from waste - otherwise it becomes an eyesore or can cause health problems
