Student Community Partnership
Oldfield Park Growing Together......would you like to get involved?Article Date: August 10, 2010 The ‘Growing Together’ scheme aims to match under-utilised student household gardens with people in the local community who wish to grow their own food, thus empowering local people including the student community to improve social cohesion and community health and wellbeing.
The Growing Together project will initially run in Oldfield Park with the hope that green-fingered local residents will use the gardens of properties where students are renting to grow their own food. Student volunteers and staff from both Universities will encourage students living in the property to get to know the residents using the garden and even participate in the scheme themselves.
-
We already have 4 gardens confirmed by Landlords to be a part of this scheme –mostly within Oldfield Park area ( one is in Southdown)
-
Aim to match residents and students to these gardens
-
A service level agreement will be created stating rights and responsibilities of the occupants and the gardeners. For eg, it will state agreed times between the occupant and gardeners of when gardeners can use the occupant’s garden etc
-
Gardening equipment will be provided
Please contact Anna Boneham on 01225 383198 or email on A.Boneham@bath.ac.uk if you are interested in getting involved.
