Bath Bloomin Students 2008 Winners

Article Date: 28/05/2008

The winners of this year’s "Bath’s Bloomin’ Students" garden competition have been announced this week as Stephanie Ginart, Tim Taylor and co. of Livingstone Road, Oldfield Park.

It is the fourth year of the competition and the most successful so far, with over 70 students taking part despite the unpredictable weather and the competition being so close to exam time.

The competition was launched for the first time in 2005, as part of Bath & North East Somerset Council’s ongoing initiative to improve ‘Town and Gown’ relations in the area.

The entries were once again judged by Barry and Carol Cruse for the fourth consecutive year. Barry Cruse, Chairman of Bath in Bloom said "Once again it was a pleasure to judge the Student Gardens competition this year, the Students were courteous, welcoming and a credit to their University." He also said "The winners showed initiative and imagination, using plastic pots and tins as I have never seen them used before!"

The winners will be awarded with the first prize trophy and £150 worth of shopping vouchers.

In second place was Ronald Bradberry of Beaufort East winning £100 worth of shopping vouchers.

Third prize of £75 worth of shopping vouchers were awarded to Marek Prajer, Stefanie Kasprowski and Jonathan Scragg of Crandale Road.

The Chairman of the Council, Cllr David Bellotti and Leader of the Council, Cllr Francine Haeberling will be presenting the trophy and prize to the winners on Friday.
